What results can you get from a description?
These three results were generated on October 3, 2026. All passed the overlap and coverage checks.
| Description entered | Resulting area | Room breakdown |
|---|---|---|
| "Cozy studio with a Murphy bed, mini kitchen and bath, about 40 m²" | 40.0 m² | 30 m² living/sleeping, 5 m² bathroom, 5 m² kitchen |
| "Modern 2-bedroom apartment with open kitchen, living room and balcony, about 65 m²" | 65.0 m² | 7 rooms |
| "3-bedroom family house with two bathrooms, dining room and entry, about 110 m²" | 110.0 m² | 11 rooms |
Your output is an SVG drawing with room names, widths, depths and areas. It also shows door openings, a scale bar, the total area and a room table.
These examples matched the requested areas exactly. Your plan's total can differ from your request by up to 10%.
Want to see more before you type? The floor plan examples page has 30 plans made with this tool, each with its room table and notes on how the layout works. For example: 1,000 sq ft house with 2 bedrooms, 2 bedroom apartment, 800 sq ft, 3 bedroom house, 1,500 sq ft and 1 bedroom cabin, 500 sq ft. Each one has a button that loads its description into the generator so you can change it.
How do you generate your floor plan?
Enter one or two sentences in the box above. Name your rooms and include any wishes, along with a total size in m² or sq ft. You can use the 40 m² studio description above.
Generate your concept plan. TextFloorPlan arranges rectangular rooms and checks the layout before showing it. You get 2 free plans per day without signing up.
Compare the result with your request. Read each room's dimensions and area, then review the total and room table. Use your second free plan to try another description.
How is your layout checked?
Before you see a layout, TextFloorPlan checks that:
- Rooms stay inside the outline.
- Rooms do not overlap.
- Rooms fill the floor.
- The total area is within 10% of your requested size.
A layout that fails is redrawn once.
TextFloorPlan sends your description to an AI model through OpenRouter, which lists the rooms and their sizes. TextFloorPlan's own code arranges those rooms, checks the layout and draws the plan, so the numbers on it always add up.
What limits should you know before trying it?
Rooms are rectangles, not free-form shapes. Their sides line up with the drawing's horizontal and vertical axes. The output is a concept floor plan.
The total area is checked to be within 10% of your request. The 40.0, 65.0 and 110.0 m² examples matched their requests, but the layout check allows a 10% difference.
Descriptions and plans are not stored in a database. Your description is sent to an AI model through OpenRouter. The drawing is made in your browser.
What happens to your description and plan?
You don't need an account. Your descriptions and plans are not stored in a database.
TextFloorPlan sends your description through OpenRouter to get a list of rooms and sizes, then its own code arranges them and draws the plan in your browser.
